3D Entourage

It is the details that can make or break a building. One cannot create architecture without details that embody the same spirit as the form of the structure itself. A designer that is obsessed with slick renderings and forms will never be able to create great architecture without fully understanding how to assemble a building. Some details are the result of building codes, zoning ordinances and ADA legislation, these details push the limits of the code into the realm of absurdity. Other details are just plain ugly, and do not take into account more than the limited functional requirements necessary to allow the building to stand. There are ewer details that are memorable for their ability to harmoniously solve many orders and requirements in a manner that is both aesthetically pleasing and consistent with the form of the building. This section highlights all of the above in an attempt to better understand the art of construction, architecture.

Today’s download resource is a 3D Apple Power Mac g5 & Cinema Display combo complete with keyboard and textures. The model has a low polygon count and makes use of textures for most of the detail. I have had 30 or so of these computers in a model and render times and Open GL performance has not diminished. The model is supplied in dwg and fmz file formats. The FormZ file is completely textured, and materials are set up in the model, requiring only minor tweaks. This is the only computer I use in my renderings, because it is dead sexy and instantly makes any space cool. … continue reading Download: 3D Apple Power Mac G5, Cinema Display & Keyboard

Louis I. Kahn: Beyond Time and Style: A Life in Architecture

Louis I. Kahn: Beyond Time and Style: A Life in Architecture is not a monograph containing photos of Kahn’s masterpieces.
